Kuwait Airways: A bit of history
Kuwait Airways (IATA:KU & ICAO:KAC) is the national carrier of Kuwait and was founded in 1953 when Kuwait National Airways was formed. In the early years of this new airline, Kuwait Airways Company served a limited number of destinations and operated flights to Basra, Abadan, Beirut, Damascus and Jerusalem.
The airline had to relaunch after it suffered the loss of all its premises and 15 aircraft when Iraq invaded Kuwait. As a result of those losses, the new Kuwait Airways modernized its fleet even more and is now formed by 25 aircraft equipped with the latest entertainment systems: 10 aircraft B777-300(ER), 10 aircraft A320-200CEO, and 5 aircraft A330-200.
Kuwait Airways is headquartered on the grounds of Kuwait International Airport, Al Farwaniyah Governorate, and operates scheduled international services from its main hub at Kuwait International Airport throughout the Middle East, to the Indian subcontinent, Europe, Southeast Asia and North America. Kuwait Airways is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization.
